We were delighted to welcome the Olympic Gold Medallist Denise Lewis to our school. Denise gave an inspiring assembly to all the KS2 pupils in which she talked about her career and also answered questions including what inspired her to compete and how she became an athlete.
Denise then visited the whole school during which she was impressed by the enthusiasm of all pupils. All the children were delighted to meet Denise who also showed off her gold medal. Furthermore, she took the chance to visit P.E. lessons including reception children using their great outdoor area and a year 5 basketball session.
In the afternoon, Denise took a questions and answer session with the year six sports leaders and school leaders from nine other local schools. The children had the opportunity to give a presentation to Denise on what their schools did in terms of sport.
In the studio last week we had a dance off involving all the school pupils. This was to support the Macmillan Cancer Support organisation.
All school years took part and school raised a considerable amount of money for a very worthy cause.
As well as our 'DanceOff' for Macmillan the school held a coffee afternoon to help raise funds for this worthwhile cause.
The event was held in the Studio and involved not just coffee but also jewellery making and henna hand art not to mention the numerous cakes and buns which were on sale.
In total including the mornings 'dance off' school raised over £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support!
A big thank you to everyone who helped make this possible and also to everyone who attended! Thank you.
