At St Thomas’ School, we strive to unlock the hidden treasures within our children, their families and the parish community through a culture of lifelong learning. Acknowledging everyone as unique, all God’s children are welcomed, valued and respected, achieving and thriving in an environment which is safe, stimulating and enriching.

  • Inspirational teaching which develops confident learners
  • Children and adults who take ownership of their learning and are proud of their achievements
  • Highest standards of progress and achievement
  • Families and a community who support learning
  • Everything underpinned by our clear Christian values

2 Corinthians 4.7

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves.

School History

St. Thomas' School opened in 1873 as two separate schools, an infant school and an elementary school. In November 2003 a new extension with 11 classrooms and a Nursery was added to the original building; in June 2004 the refurbishment of the original building was completed.  Recently a further stage of expansion has been completed, adding four extra classrooms, a studio and a small group room.  With the work  completed the school has room for  60 children per year an increase of 15 on the previous admission.

As well as the classrooms there is an art and music studio, an Art/Design/Technology Room, large Library with new digital cataloguing system,a large Hall for collective worship, PE and sports lessons. In addition to the playground, there is also  an all weather sports pitch.
