Newsletter 10th November 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a fantastic year we are having!  So far children have watched a science show, been on a residential to Whitby, visited Werneth Park, attended a football tournament and are getting ready to watch the Pantomime (Oh no we aren’t!).  Everyone is working so hard to catch up some of the gaps that COVID and the time out of school has caused.  We are having a huge push on writing in school encouraging the children to think carefully about what they are writing and being brave using all their imagination and ideas.  Hopefully we can share some of their amazing work on the website soon.

Uniform

Can I remind you that the school uniform is something the children need to wear every day.  Green jumper, yellow polo shirt, black trousers or skirt and black school shoes.  For PE days the children need to come into school wearing their PE kit.  This is black shorts or jogging pants, plain white t-shirt and trainers.  If the weather is cold they need to wear their green school jumper or school fleece.

Attendance and Lates

Thank you all for your efforts in getting the children into school already it is making a difference.  Our aim is to have all the children lined up at 8:50 so that lessons can start straight away.

The most ‘on time’ class this week was 1AR and as a special treat they can come to school tomorrow in their own clothes.  Well done!  We will do the same next week.

A polite reminder – if you are planning to take a holiday in term time can you please speak to school before you book the tickets.  We have a number of children who have gone on holidays as received fines and a growing number of children who have lost their place in school for being away too long.  Come and speak to either Mr Shahid or Mr McGrath if you have any questions.

Trips

Over the next few weeks all children will be going on a cinema trip and most of the school will be visiting Oldham Colosseum to watch the Pantomime.  These will be very exciting and an amazing opportunity.  If you are unsure when your child’s class is going, check the school calendar.

Happy and sad news

We have both happy and sad news in Year 1.  Miss Sharkey will be returning to school after her maternity leave in a few weeks – it will be lovely to have her back in school.  But, the sad news is that Mrs Begum will be leaving us when she returns.  Can we thank her for her hard work, care and commitment over the last year and wish her luck in her new job.  She has been a wonderful member of our school staff and she will be missed.  Good luck!
