At St Thomas' Primary School we primarily follow the guidance of the National Curriculum for Science (2014). We aim to ensure that all pupils develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics; develop an understanding of nature, processes and methods of science through different types of enquiry and understand the implications of science today and the future.
We encourage our children to be inquisitive throughout and foster a healthy curiosity about our universe, promoting respect for the living and non-living. Through teaching, the children acquire and develop key knowledge that has been identified within each unit as well as the application of science skills. Our children apply their knowledge of science when using equipment, conducting experiments, explaining concepts and we encourage them to continue to ask questions.
