Friday 22nd May 2020

Dear parents and carers,

Just a really quick update today as we start our half term holiday.  School will be closed for the next two weeks and open on Monday 8th June for the children of key workers and children identified as vulnerable.  Our aim is to open to Year 6 children as soon as our risk assessments are completed and approved by the local authority and we feel it is safe to do so.  We do not have a timescale for this yet but hope we can provide you with one soon.

Over the holiday the children will not be receiving any schoolwork from the teachers, please all enjoy a lovely break.

Parents receiving the free school meals vouchers should hopefully have been emailed their vouchers for this week.  I know the process has not been easy and that they have not been sent regularly or on time.  Sadly, there is nothing we as a school can do as this is run by a government website which is extremely busy.

Children are not entitled to the vouchers over the half term holiday.  School has made the decision to keep ordering them for the next two weeks so there is no break in them being delivered.  This will mean that we will order vouchers for next 6 weeks running up to the 2 weeks before the end of term at the summer holiday, when we will stop.

I know that some are still having problems with the vouchers.  Keep using the online form on the parent page to contact school or call the main office.  We are trying to sort the problems as quickly as possibly.

Don’t forget to keep checking our school Facebook page, we are getting more and more likes as the weeks go on @Stthomaswerneth.

Thank you all for your support over this unusual and challenging time.  Stay safe and hope to see you all soon.  If you are celebrating, please have a lovely Eid (don’t forget to freeze me some samosas for when we return!!!)
