Newsletter 6th September 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back after the summer break, hope you all enjoyed a great holiday.  It is great to see the children back in school and working so hard, all in the right uniform and with lovely smiles on their faces too.

We have a fantastic and busy term ahead of us and are looking forward to some of the things we have planned.

Attendance, punctuality and holiday requests

There is new government guidance on holidays and the fining of families who take unauthorised breaks in term time.  I have attached the information to this newsletter, please read the information carefully.  If you are wanting to request any leave for your children during school time please speak to Mr Shahid before booking.

Can I remind parents that school starts and the children enter school at 8:45 and their lessons start straight away.  If they are late to school, they will be missing important learning time.

PE and swimming

Can children continue to come to school in their PE kit on their class’ PE day (plain white t-shirt and black shorts/leggings).  The days have been shared on the year group newsletters which are on the website : https://www.stthomaswernethprimary.co.uk/class-pages/

Swimming this term is Year 4.  They will be going every Thursday to Oldham baths.  If you have any questions, please speak to the class teachers.

Uniform

It is great to see the children all in the correct uniform and sensible black shoes and trainers.  Can I please remind parents that the girls black headscarves need to be worn in a manner which is securely fastened and, once put on, stays in place.  For PE lessons they can either wear a tight fitting scarf or remove it for the sessions.

Chai and Chat

We are continuing our wonderful Chai and Chat on the first Monday of the month in St. Thomas Church after school.  Messages will be sent out to remind you and it will be lovely to see you all there.

Have a great week

Mr McGrath
