English

This half term, we have been writing newspaper reports about a dragon visiting our school. We interviewed Mr O'Connor about the events and asked him a variety of questions. When we are back we will look at the text 'Dear Dragon'. We will write letters to the dragon that visited our school and tell them about our family, hobbies and interests. Some of our home learning tasks may be linked to writing letters. In addition to this, in reading time we will be looking at a range of books all about dragons and making links between the texts.

Reading Books

Reading books and reading records should be brought into school every day. Each child will be listened to at least once a week, but this could be on any day so it's important they have their book with them. Regular reading at home will improve your child's ability and we encourage parents to listen to their children when they read. It is also important that you ask questions to check their understanding of the book.

Spelling

A new spelling list will be sent home every Friday so that the children can practice over the weekend. The children will be tested on Thursdays. We use the cover - write - check method to practice our spellings. An overview of the Year 2 spelling words is available below.
