The Anglo-Saxons and Scots

Year 5 will find out what happened in Britain after the Romans left in the 5th
century with these fantastic 'Anglo-Saxons, Picts and Scots' lesson. Using the
mysterious burial ship at Sutton Hoo as a basis, we will explore where the Anglo-Saxons came from, how they came to settle in Britain, who the Picts and Scots of the north were, how Christianity became the predominant religion.

Beowulf - an epic English poem

We will be reading 'Beowulf' during this topic to help us really immerse in the learning and help our understanding of this period of history.
  • Anglo Saxon Village game Learn about an Anglo Saxon village and then become an archaeologist (like Mr Armstrong!) and find buried artefacts!
