Pitch issues
Dear Parents and Carers,
Over the weekend (On Saturday at 6:55) we had an incident on the school pitch. A group of youths came on and have really damaged the surface.
The scarier part of the CCTV footage we have watched is the activities leading up to and following the fire. The children were holding lit fireworks, throwing them while filming it as well as adding a flammable liquid onto the fire - the pictures are terrible and really quite alarming.
The fire brigade came and put out the fire soon afterwards.
As you know I am not allowed to share the CCTV footage where faces are visible and children could be recognised. I have attached some lower resolution images.
The youths do not appear to be from our school - they looked like teenagers. Can I ask you to speak to your children about fire safety and the potential risks of these kinds of behaviours.
The higher resolution images and videos have been shared with the police.
I have never seen anything like this before and really hope I never see it again. I am amazed nobody was seriously hurt.
