Hot weather

22 June 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

Hot Weather Reminder

With the hot weather expected to continue this week, we wanted to let you know that we have measures in place to help keep children safe and comfortable in school.

To help us, please ensure that your child:

  • Does not bring unnecessary fleeces, jumpers or coats, as classrooms will be warm.
  • Has sunscreen applied before coming to school, if required
  • Brings a sun hat or cap for break times if required.

Children do not need to bring an additional water bottle into school, as every child has access to a school water bottle and drinking water throughout the day.

We will encourage children to drink regularly and will adapt activities where necessary. During the hottest parts of the day, children will spend more time in shaded areas or indoors, and strenuous physical activities may be reduced.

The school has completed a heatwave risk assessment and staff will continue to monitor children carefully throughout the day.

We have also postponed the World Cup Day due to be held on Wednesday.  This will be run after the weather has cooled.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep everyone safe during the warmer weather.

Yours sincerely,

Paul McGrath
