This year at St Thomas we have implemented the Daily Mile.
The aim of the Daily Mile is to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children – regardless of age, ability or personal circumstances.
With their classes, children run for approximately 15 minutes a day. Each child in KS2 recieved a personal Daily Mile booklet where they can tot up their laps! Prizes will be won for excellent effort and achievement! Classes will also be competing to see how far they can run around the world collectively! (See below). As it states above, we are aiming to improve the fitness and health of our children, but also the Daily Mile has shown excellent improvements in children's concentration and emotional wellbeing.
Children should also be aiming to do at least 30 minutes of exercise at home, so get active!
In line with the Daily Mile, 'Fitter Future' aims to continue the exercise on rainy days! If we cannot make it outside, we have 15 minutes exercise sessions inside the classroom through the Fitter Future programme.
Children have access online to the site so keep an eye on those monthly challenges!
